…and sleep came over him

The Fates covered him

*The title comes from Theocritus’ 24th Idyll. It is about Alcmene’s lullaby to her twins Ifickles and Hercules:

‘Sleep, healthful sleep enjoy my blessed twain ;
Sleep happy ! happy wake at coming dawn again.”
And with these words she rocked the mighty shield, And sleep came over them.
